HL7 FHIR - Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources

FHIR is a next generation standards framework created by HL7. FHIR solutions are built from a set of modular components called "Resources". These resources can easily be assembled into working systems that solve real world clinical and administrative problems at a fraction of the price of existing alternatives. FHIR is suitable for use in a wide variety of contexts – mobile phone apps, cloud communications, EHR-based data sharing, server communication in large institutional healthcare providers, and much more. - Source: Why FHIR is better - hl7.org

Does Fitbit have time to pull off its digital healthcare transformation & How application developers can utilize the Device API on the Fitbit device

Fitbit is embarking on a multi-year business transformation to pivot to software, healthcare services and data and analysts, but has to keep its wearable and smartwatch business humming long enough to fund it. The ongoing debate around Fitbit will revolve around whether the company has the time to execute its business model shift. - Sources: ZDNET & Fitbit Developer - Communications Guide

Benefits of continous integration & How to set up a continous Integration and Delivery CI/CD pipeline

The benefits of Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment are clear. However, the process to building the pipeline to do Continuous Delivery or Deployment isn’t always easy. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. We believe that modern development teams are working their way up to Continuous Deployment. That’s why we suggest getting started with automated testing through Continuous Integration today. With automated tests on each new commit, Continuous Integration is a great way to increase code quality. - Sources: DZONE, 9 benefits of continous integration & AMAZON, Set Up a CI/CD Pipeline on AWS

The world's first phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor is here

For years, rumors have circulated about companies like Samsung and Apple attempting to integrate fingerprint sensors into their smartphones’ displays — and now someone’s actually gone and done it. Vivo, a major Chinese smartphone brand owned by the same company behind Oppo and OnePlus, has announced the X20 Plus UD, the first ever smartphone to ship with the technology. - Source: The Verge

Angular 5 vs. React vs. Vue

Nowadays, technologies are growing very fast. Every day, week and month more and more tools appear to solve different problems. In this article, I want to compare 3 of the most popular technologies for the front end development: Angular 5, React, and Vue. I am going to compare them from the perspective of the project architect or just a developer who is going to choose a framework for the new project. - Source: ITNEXT, Michael Petrosyan

App developer’s guide to law and policy: creating quality mental health apps

13 . 12 . 2017

A guidance document to assist app developers create health apps that are legally compliant and in line with industry and community standards.

A health app developers guide to law and policy: a multi-sector policy analysis

The University of Sydney and the Australian Communications Consumer Action Netwerk (ACCAN) have created a tool that is suitable for developers who wish to create legally compliant mental health apps that accord with high professional standards of consumer care and protection. They anticipate that it will be helpful with navigating the complex array of legislative guidelines and industry best-practice standards across multiple relevant domains. The researchers conducted a case study analysis of the Australian and related international policy environment for mental health apps to identify relevant sectors, policy actors, and policy solutions. As a result they identified 29 policies produced by governments and non-government organisations that provide oversight of health apps.

"In consultation with stakeholders, we developed an interactive tool targeted at app developers, summarising key features of the policy environment and highlighting legislative, industry and professional standards around seven relevant domains: privacy, security, content, promotion and advertising, consumer finances, medical device efficacy and safety, and professional ethics".

The tool can be used at all levels of app production, from inspiration through to development and evaluation, and may also be a suitable template for post-market assessment.

ANNUAL UPDATE MOBILE IS EATING THE WORLD

In the 9 years since the first iPhone launched, the mobile phone has gone from a nice-to-have communication and work tool to a must-have for everything from entertainment to shopping to games. Just take a look around your world and you'll see people looking down at their phones on the street or raising their phones to take a selfie. It's an industry that's evolved quickly, and Andreessen Horowitz partner Benedict Evans' job is to predict where it will go in the future.

'MILLIONS' IN ENTERPRISES EXPECTED TO BUY GALAXY S8

Samsung released its new flagship phone. Enterprise customers are expected to snap up the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ that hit store shelves today, given the phones' strong focus on worker productivity as well as security. IDC analyst Bryan Bassett predicted that "millions" of enterprise customers will buy one of the devices, some of them partly out of the pent-up demand created when the enterprise-focused Note7 was recalled globally after some units overheated and caught fire. "Samsung won't have any trouble selling these devices and they will do well with both consumers and businesses," Bassett said in an interview. "Business users are very eager to get their hands on the S8, especially after the Note7 recalls. They will especially want this slick and gorgeous device." - Source: Computerworld

YOU’VE BUILT AN APP - NOW WHAT? (INFOGRAPHIC)

When devs create apps, it feels like that is the project. But once an app is built and released on an app store, it becomes obvious: creating the app was just the start of the journey. Developers are makers. They solve pains, entertain, enlighten, and enhance productivity. Building an app can be an exhilarating experience and the joys of shipping can linger for… about ten seconds. Then comes the question, “I’ve built an app, now what?”. Now comes the really exciting (and scary) stuff: getting that app in front of users who will find it useful, and making sure they keep coming back to your app on a regular basis.

Building strategies for user acquisition and retention are the two major tasks for dev teams after they have built an app. Acquisition  is really about marketing (app store optimisation, paid & organic acquisition) and user retention is about marketing and the product working together (user experience, re-engagement and performance). Analytics helps understand exactly what is happening and how to keep building traction. From there, new possibilities can emerge that will help you grow your user community even stronger and help you identify novel ideas that may offer you a winning edge.

HOW MOBILE APPS WILL TRANSFORM E-COMMERCE IN 2017

Mobile is continuing to grow in importance for all business sectors, including e-commerce. Mobile apps are more popular than mobile websites and can provide businesses with more customer information compared to a website visit. Also, customers are more likely to remember and return to a mobile app which is more visible on a phone screen compared to an Internet browser’s bookmark.

CHINESE SUPER APP ‘WECHAT’ AND THEIR ‘MINI PROGRAMS’

In China there are 656 million smart phone users (twice the entire population in the US). Many of those 656 million smart phone users spend much of their time on a single app called WeChat. WeChat allows you to do everything from ordering delivery to paying for utilities. The company behind WeChat is Tencent. Tencent has chosen the 10th anniversary of iPhone to launch ‘mini programs’, an app platform within its popular instant messaging app WeChat that could challenge both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS stores.

What are mini programs exactly?

Mini programs are a kind of app that doesn’t need to be downloaded or installed to be used. They realise the dream that apps can be accessible everywhere. Users just scan or search to open the app. They ‘use it then go,’ you needn’t worry did you install too many apps. Apps can be absolutely everywhere, you can use them anytime, but you don’t need to install anything. Essentially mini programs are light apps built within WeChat allowing for a user experience similar to native iOS or Android apps. Mini programs remove virtually all of the friction and inconvenience of native apps. They also offer significant benefits to Chinese programmers in terms of reducing the resources and time needed for development.

With mini programs WeChat has transitioned into China’s first device neutral mobile operating system. Yes, you read that correctly, WeChat today is effectively an OS to rival Android and iOS in the Chinese market. CHINA STRUGGLING TO SUSTAIN DIGITAL HEALTH INITIATIVES

The health care IT sector appears to be booming in the U.S. with EHRs, medical apps, and artificial intelligence software like Watson that are popular with both clinicians and patients. But according to a report by Bloomberg, China’s hopes to cash in on online and digital health care platforms have yet to catch on. It appears that lack of data and too much regulation have forced the global economic titan to reconsider its strategy if companies hope to make money. Apps versus the Web, Apple’s next keynote and New OnePlus Android device

21 . 5 . 2015

Do people want to put your icon on their home screen?'

Volgens Techradar zullen de volgende key-topics de kop op steken: iOS 9 beta or just iOS 8.4 - OS X 11 beta for Macs - Apple Watch sales and update - Apple TV, but not a television. - Via Techradar

- Via 9to5google

Apple Watch, Google & TNW Europe 2015

05 . 5 . 2015

Deze week in Mobile Enterprise: software vendors ready Apple Watch apps, Google’s Mobile Algorithm Update & The Next Web Europe 2015

- via Inc.
